Summary:

For three years, Alexandria has tried to forget who she really is and blend in with the mortals. She was trying to forget everything she was raised to know and expect. Alexandria is a half-blood, the child of a demigod and a mortal, who has been trained to fight and kill daimons, in order to protect the pures. After her mother pulled her from the Covenant at 14, and immersed her in the mortal world,  now at 17, she is convinced that she will never fit in. As anyone who’s ever even heard of the gods knows, that the Fates make the decisions. The daimons attack her in her home and kill her mother. Alex goes on the run and tries to get back to the only other home she has ever known, and the one place her mother told her that she could never return, the Covenant. She is being hunted by daimons along the way, which is something she was trained to believe was impossible. She is soon to realize that in this world, even the impossible can, and probably will, happen.

This book is full of action, emotion, and suspense. It provides a good background for the series and gives you a grasp on the terminology without a very long explanation. I like that it gives you all the information you need without a huge boring word building introduction. You get the pertinent information while going through the action. It does end on a serious cliffhanger… you’ll want to have access to Half-Blood as soon as you finish this one!

Jennifer L Armentrout gives Alex a great voice in her writing. She’s edgy and kick ass, but she’s emotional as well. She writes her in a way that you believe she’s your long-lost sister or best friend, if you were of godly descent. 🙂

Recommended for anyone over 15. Reads well for young adults and up. It’s really a series that can cross into the older generation readers as well!

Let me know what you think about the book!
